The Farm

Our family moved to this lovely corner of England several years ago with the intention of trying something new in life and doing more of what we enjoyed. The plan was always for this to become a small, vibrant diversified holding and we are certainly on the way there! We greatly enjoy hosting guests from all walks of life and making people feel warm and welcome whilst with us.

The Farm

The farm had no livestock when we took the farm on. We have a small flock of around 70 sheep across three rare breeds. We normally lamb around end March, but have had a few "surprises" this year! Pigs, Dexter cattle and more poultry (Mr Fox having reared his family on the last lot!) may follow in 2021, all being well. Fencing, or lack of it is the rate limiting factor. All in good time!

Our Local Area

Being only 5 miles from the sea at Lyme Regis, Beer, Axmouth, Branscombe, we are perfectly positioned to take advantage of all that the Jurassic Coast has to offer. We are located on the East Devon/West Dorset border, being only one mile from the small market town of Axminster and sitting on the edge of the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

We have more worthy local tourist attractions than we could possibly list here, but take great pleasure in visiting them and letting you know what we think on either our Facebook page or on our online blog (see NEWS link)!

Many of our guests come to us to experience River Cottage HQ or Canteen. Axminster is fortunate to be served by a mainline railway station; for keen walkers or those wanting to make this a less gas guzzling journey, we are equally walkable from the station, the River Cottage Canteen and River Cottage HQ (a mile from each). All assuming that you are not wearing your stilettos and that you are up for an adventure!
